BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Antialkidas, circa 130-120 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 2.25 g, 12 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΝΙΚΗΦΟΡΟΥ / ΑΝΤΙΑΛΚΙΔΟΥ Diademed and draped bust of Antialkidas to right, wearing crested Macedonian helmet adorned with bull’s horn and ear. Rev. 'Maharajasa jayadharasa Amtialkidasa' (in Karoshti) Zeus seated facing slightly to left, holding Nike in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, forepart of elephant right; below throne, monogram. Bopearachchi 12B. HGC 12, 258. SNG ANS 1072-7. Lightly toned. Some corrosion and cleaning scratches, otherwise, very fine.
